Checking your Challan online is a simple yet important process to stay updated on any traffic violations and fines associated with your vehicle.

Step 1: Access the Official Challan Website

  1. Open Your Web Browser:
    • Launch your preferred web browser on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Visit the Official Challan Portal:
    • Enter the URL echallan.parivahan.gov.in in the address bar and press Enter. This site is managed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) of India.

Step 2: Select Your State

  1. Find the Dropdown Menu:
    • On the homepage, look for a dropdown menu that allows you to select your state.
  2. Choose Your State:
    • Click on the dropdown menu and select the state where your vehicle is registered. This is necessary because the Challan details may vary by state.

Step 3: Enter Vehicle Information

  1. Choose Your Search Method:
    • After selecting your state, you’ll see options to search for your Challan. Common options include:
      • Vehicle Registration Number
      • Challan Number
      • Mobile Number
  2. Input Your Details:
    • If you choose to search by vehicle registration number, enter it accurately in the specified field.
    • If you have a Challan number, select that option and enter the number accordingly.

Step 4: Submit Your Request

  1. Click the “Get Details” Button:
    • Once you have entered the necessary information, click on the button labeled “Get Details,” “Search,” or similar.
  2. Wait for Results:
    • The portal will process your request, and it may take a few moments to retrieve the relevant Challan details.

Step 5: Review Your Challan Information

  1. Examine the Displayed Information:
    • The website will show you all relevant details associated with your Challan, including:
      • Vehicle registration number
      • Date and time of the violation
      • Location of the violation
      • Type of violation (e.g., speeding, running a red light)
      • Total fine amount due
  2. Check for Multiple Violations:
    • If you have more than one Challan, they will be listed, allowing you to review each one.

Step 6: Payment of the Challan (If Applicable)

  1. Locate the Payment Option:
    • If you have outstanding fines, find the option to pay your Challan, which may say “Pay Now,” “Pay Challan,” or something similar.
  2. Select Your Payment Method:
    • You can typically pay through various online methods, including:
      • Credit or Debit Card
      • Internet Banking
      • UPI (Unified Payments Interface)
  3. Complete the Payment:
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to finish the payment process. Ensure you keep a record of the transaction for your files.

Step 7: Download or Print Your Receipt

  1. Obtain Your Receipt:
    • After making the payment, you will often have the option to download or print your payment receipt.
  2. Save Your Receipt:
    • Make sure to save this receipt as it serves as proof of payment for your records.
