How to Vehicle Registration

Registering your vehicle is a crucial step to ensure it is legally recognized on Indian roads.

Here’s a detailed step-by-step guide to help you through the registration process using the Parivahan platform.

Step 1: Gather Required Documents

Before starting the registration process, make sure you have the following documents ready:

  • Proof of Identity:
    • Aadhar card, passport, or any government-issued ID.
  • Address Proof:
    • Utility bill, rental agreement, or any official document.
  • Vehicle Invoice:
    • The purchase invoice from the dealer.
  • Form 20:
    • The application form for vehicle registration, which can be downloaded from the Parivahan website.
  • Insurance Certificate:
    • Valid vehicle insurance documents.
  • PUC Certificate:
    • Pollution Under Control certificate, if applicable.

Step 2: Visit the Parivahan Website

Go to the official Parivahan website: Parivahan.

This platform simplifies the registration process and provides all the necessary resources.

Step 3: Fill Out the Registration Form

On the Parivahan homepage, select the “Vehicle Registration” option.

Fill out the online application form (Form 20) with accurate details about your vehicle, including the make, model, engine number, and chassis number.

Step 4: Upload Documents

Once the form is completed, you will be prompted to upload the required documents.

Ensure that all documents are scanned and saved in the correct format as specified by the website.

Step 5: Pay the Registration Fees

After submitting your application, you will be directed to the payment portal.

Pay the necessary registration fees online through the available payment methods.

The fee structure may vary based on the type of vehicle and the state in which you are registering.

Step 6: Schedule an Appointment

Once your payment is processed, schedule an appointment at your local Regional Transport Office (RTO) for verification.

Make a note of the appointment date and time.

Step 7: Visit the RTO for Verification

On the scheduled date, visit the RTO with your original documents for verification.

Ensure you carry all the documents you uploaded online.

The RTO official will verify your documents and may conduct an inspection of your vehicle.

Step 8: Receive Your Registration Certificate

Upon successful verification, you will receive your Registration Certificate (RC) either on the same day or through postal service.

This certificate serves as legal proof of your vehicle’s registration and must be kept in your vehicle at all times.
