How to check the status driving license application
If you’ve applied for a new driving license or a renewal and want to track its progress, you can easily check the status online using the official government portal. Here’s a detailed guide on how to do it:
Step 1: Access the Official Parivahan Website
- Open your web browser: Use any standard browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
- Visit the Parivahan Sewa website: Go to the official Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) website at Parivahan Sewa.
- Navigate to the “Online Services” section: On the homepage, locate the “Online Services” tab in the menu.
Step 2: Select “Driving License Related Services”
- Click on “Driving License Related Services” from the dropdown menu: This option will redirect you to the Sarathi Parivahan page, which handles all driving license-related services.
- Choose your State: Select the state in which you applied for the license, as services are state-specific. For example, if you applied in Karnataka, choose “Karnataka” from the list.
Step 3: Go to the “Application Status” Page
- Find the “Application Status” link: After selecting your state, look for the “Application Status” option on the left-hand menu or under the “Driving License” services tab.

Once the system processes your details, you’ll be able to see your application status, which could include:
- Under Processing: Your application is still under review.
- Approved: Your application has been verified and approved.
- Dispatched: Your driving license has been printed and dispatched to your address.
- Rejected: Your application has been denied due to missing documents or incorrect details.
- Pending Verification: Further verification is required from the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
Step 7: Download or Print the Status (If Required)
- Save or take a screenshot: If necessary, take a screenshot or download the status for your reference.
- Contact the RTO if there are any issues: If your status is unclear or there are errors, consider visiting the nearest RTO office for assistance.
