This guide will take you through the entire process step-by-step to ensure your vehicle’s road tax is paid without any complications.

Step 1: Visit the Official Parivahan Website

  • Go to the official Parivahan portal: Parivahan Sewa.
  • This is the official site managed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, where you can handle various vehicle-related services, including road tax payments.

Step 2: Select the “Vehicle Related Services” Option

  • On the homepage, look for the section labeled “Vehicle Related Services” and click on it.
  • You will be redirected to a new page where you can select your respective state.

Step 3: Choose Your State and RTO (Regional Transport Office)

  • After selecting your state, choose the specific RTO office (Regional Transport Office) under which your vehicle is registered.
  • The road tax amount and payment options will vary depending on the RTO jurisdiction.

Step 4: Enter Your Vehicle Details

Step 6: Verify Vehicle Information

  • Review the details displayed on the screen, including the owner’s name, vehicle type, and tax amount.
  • Make sure everything is correct before proceeding to the next step.

Step 7: Calculate and Confirm the Road Tax Amount

  • The system will automatically calculate the tax amount based on your vehicle’s category and other criteria.

Step 9: Download the Payment Receipt

  • After successful payment, a receipt will be generated.
  • Download and print this receipt as proof of payment. It is advisable to keep a digital and physical copy for future reference.

Step 10: Recheck the Payment Status

  • Go back to the Parivahan homepage and use the “Check Payment Status” option to confirm that your road tax has been updated in the system.
  • Enter your vehicle details to view the status and ensure that the payment is reflected correctly.

  2. Fill Out the Road Tax Payment Form: Request the road tax payment form, fill it out, and attach the required vehicle documents.
  3. Submit the Form and Make the Payment: Hand over the filled form at the counter and pay the tax amount in cash or through Demand Draft (DD).

Important Points to Remember

  1. Check State-Specific Guidelines: Each state in India may have different rules and guidelines for road tax payment. Always ensure that you’re following the correct procedure for your respective state.
  2. Verify Payment Details: Before finalizing the payment, double-check all the entered details, such as vehicle registration number, tax amount, and RTO office.
