How to Check RC Status on Vahan
The Vahan portal, managed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, is an official platform for checking vehicle-related information, including the Registration Certificate (RC) status.
It allows vehicle owners in India to verify their RC status online without visiting the local RTO.
Here’s a detailed step-by-step guide to help you check your RC status using the Vahan website:
Step 1: Visit the Vahan Website
Open your web browser and go to the official Vahan website: Vahan Portal.
Step 2: Go to “Know Your RC Status”
On the homepage of the Vahan portal, navigate to the “Know Your RC Status” option under the “Online Services” section.
Step 3: Enter Your Vehicle Registration Number
You will be directed to a new page where you must enter your vehicle registration number in the designated field.
Ensure that the number is entered exactly as it appears on your RC, without any spaces or errors.
Step 4: Input the Captcha Code
After entering your registration number, you will need to complete the captcha verification by typing the characters shown on the screen.
This is a security measure to confirm that you are not a bot.
Step 5: Click on “Check RC Status”
Once you have entered the vehicle registration number and the captcha, click on the “Check RC Status” button.
The Vahan system will retrieve the registration details of your vehicle.
Step 6: Review the RC Details
The website will display the status of your vehicle’s RC.
You will be able to see important details such as:
- Registration validity
- Owner’s name
- Chassis and engine number
- Fitness certificate (if applicable)
- Insurance details
- Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate status
